Wilson FG Tour M3: All About the Personalization
FG Tour M3 Driver
Entering their 100th year as a company, Wilson Golf is starting it off with a bang. They have revolutionized the way they approach and design golf clubs. Wilson has gone to a new light-weight club with their Right Light Technology and multi fit system of weights to give the FG Tour M3 driver the gift of personalization to each and every golfer, no matter their golf swing. With input from multiple tour players, the new driver is designed with explosive distance and superior accuracy, insuring that this driver is a tour quality performing club.
Wilson’s research and design engineers have created The Right Light Technology, which optimizes the proper weight distribution among the clubhead, shaft, and grip to achieve the best performance out of each of these individual items. After discovering the best performance weight of each, the “right” club is created to increase distance and control.
The FG Tour M3 driver has a clean and compact look at address, largely due to the black matte finish and deep face. The driver has the appearance of a tour-inspired pear shape that will even garner the attention of the pickiest golfers. Although the clubhead will appear smaller to the eye, it maxes out at the USGA limits of 460cc for a driver, while maintaining the light-weight theme. The face of the clubhead is varied in thickness from heel-to-toe. The variable face thickness increases the speed off the golf ball on off-center shots, which leads to more distance and an increase in accuracy. The crown of the golf club is crafted ultra-thin to increase swing speed for premium distance off the tee.
Wilson’s new multi-fit system is a combination of multiple loft and weight options available at your fingertips. The FG Tour M3 driver has six different lofts available. The driver will be delivered in the 9.5 loft setting with the option to change it anywhere from 8.5 to 11.5 degrees, all in half degree increments. The driver will come with a kit of three weights; three, seven and eleven grams to customize the driver and make it a personal fit to your swing. The three-gram weight is silver in color and is the super light option. The seven-gram weight is gold in color, which comes standard on the M3 driver and other M3 products, and is the Right Light weighting option. The eleven-gram weight is black in color and is the traditional weighting option.
The FG Tour M3 driver is available in two different shaft options, both of which are manufactured by Aldila, a leader in shafts on the PGA Tour. The light option, weighing 50 grams, is the RIP Phenom 50. The heavier option, weighing 60 grams, is the RIP Phenom NL 60. Both shafts have design features to produce maximum feel and superb accuracyand each are available in multiple flexes.
Wilson has hit the nail on the head by making it possible to personally be fit to a driver, unlike playing around your current driver. The best thing a company can do is to make a driver work for you, which is exactly what Wilson has done. The FG Tour M3 driver is built with superb playability for those seeking precise trajectory control and increased distance.
