Nike Engages Tour Players for Their 2015 Wedge

Nike has designed three different sole grinds that fit three different swing styles and turf conditions. The three sole grinds are the Dual Sole, Toe Sweep, and Square Sole; each featuring Nike’s Modern Muscle technology that optimizes the center of gravity. They all feature a raw finish with Nike’s X3X milled grooves, which are sharper and larger than year’s prior. Every Engage wedge had direct input from PGA Tour players, setting up a seamless transition for Rory McIlroy to put them in play immediately.

“To me, they perform really well from the rough around the greens,” said McIlroy. “The ball seems to consistently get up easier and land softer.”

The Nike Engage Dual Sole wedge was inspired by two of the best in the world; Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The sole features two surfaces – one that is most effective when played in the square position and one that is effective when played in the open clubface position. This grind will give players more options from various lies found on the golf course, especially from around the greens.

nike-engage-toe-sweep-wedgeThe Nike Engage Toe Sweep wedge features a wider sole in the toe area and progressively gets thinner towards the heel (these are minor improvements that have been made since the first Toe Sweep wedge). This new sole design is most useful when facing poor lies like deep rough or heavy sand, as the narrow heel will allow the club to cut through the turf without snagging.

The Nike Engage Square Sole wedge is designed for the player who is looking for full wedge shots, as well as those who play a square-faced shot in their short game. This is a solid option for your gap wedge or someone who faces a variety of turf conditions.
