TaylorMade Tour Round-Up: The Latest
The PGA Tour season is well under way. The top players in the world tune up their game as the season’s first major quickly approaches. Here’s a TaylorMade Tour round-up of staff results and the latest equipment to hit the shelves.
TaylorMade Tour Round-Up
TaylorMade staff players are playing particularly well this season. Leading the way is Dustin Johnson. Putting a forgettable performance at the Farmer’s Insurance Open behind him, Johnson finished third at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He was nowhere near done either. He cruised to the Genesis Open title at Riviera Country Club. The win vaulted him to #1 in the world! The win also gives Johnson a win in an impressive 10 consecutive seasons. Johnson backed up that win with another title at the WGC-Mexico Championship. So far this season, Dustin has 4 Top-3 finishes and another top-10 out of 7 starts.
Another TaylorMade staffer making a name for himself is PGA Tour rookie Jon Rahm. The Spaniard followed up his win at the Farmer’s Insurance Open with a T5 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Rahm was also in contention down the stretch at the WGC-Mexico Championship. He battled a strong course and star-studded field to finish T3.
Battling injuries and illness, the 2016-17 season is off to a difficult start for Jason Day. The highlight of his season thus far is a T5 finish at Pebble Beach. Day looks to get his game and health on track leading up to The Master’s.
Finally, two-time major winner Martin Kaymer used his bag full of TaylorMade clubs to finish T4 at The Honda Classic. He looks to get back into the winner’s circle for the first time since 2014.
Equipment Round-Up
In previous TaylorMade on Tour posts, we introduced the new Milled Grind wedges, TP5, and TP5x golf balls. We also mentioned the release of an upcoming “tour proto” irons, called P770 and P750. These products are all on the market now!
Milled Grind Wedges
In our in-depth review of the Milled Grind wedges, we detail the precision that goes into each club. Precision milled sole grinds give the wedges optimal turf interaction. New grooves and an improved CG location provide better spin control and feel.
TP5 and TP5x Golf Balls
The new TP5 and TP5x ball have been performing very well so far. Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm, two of the hottest players on Tour, are using them. Revolutionary 5-layer construction gives the golf balls distance off the tee and control around the green. Read our detailed review of each golf ball to see which one benefits your game the best.
P770 and P750 Irons
The latest player’s iron set offerings from TaylorMade are the P770 and P750 Tour Proto. Each forged club is designed with the better player in mind. The P770 irons use a 70-gram weight behind the face of the long irons, giving forgiveness. The P750 Tour Proto irons are a true forged, blade iron. They offer the most workability and shot-making ability. The thinner topline and minimal offset of the P750 appeal to the better ball strikers.
Wrap Up
That concludes this month’s TaylorMade On Tour round-up. We are excited to see how TaylorMade staffers will compete as the season gets ramped up! With the strong performing equipment TaylorMade has released this year, they (and we) can only benefit.
